Star Trek 25th Ann. Playthrough 1 : Demon World (1 of 3)

By

0 Star Trek 25th Ann. Playthrough 1 : Demon World (1 of 3)Join Captain Kirk and company in Star Trek 25th anniversary, a thrilling adventure game from Interplay (1992)!

This game (and its immediate sequel, Star Trek Judgment Rites) constitute the ‘unofficial’ fourth season, according to the game manual. Two versions of this game were released, the first on floppy disk, and the second on CD with full voice acting from the cast of Star Trek. These two games mark the last time the cast portrayed their original Star Trek characters together.

The game is episodic in nature, broken into seven ‘missions’, or episodes. In Star Trek 25th Anniversary, these are independent of each other. The whole thing has great production values for its time, at the height of this style of graphical ‘adventure’ game, and the voice acting from the cast really makes it slick and memorable. It really feels like a season of Star Trek, complete with Shatner totally phoning it in.

I tried to do these episodes as expeditiously as possible while elaborating on most of the reasonings behind the actions. The game has much more content than is shown, and much more dialogue.

    I understand, the depth and realism of games now is unparalleled. But is it just me, or were the old, “short” and “easy” games of the CGA to SVGA era better than anything?

    Cool beans, I’m not familiar with that one but I just finished up an X-COM game a couple of weeks ago. xD

    @HardWarUK
    Yeah, I mean some of the old games are too dated and are no longer as fun as they once were (like Pong). But once you get over the shiny graphics of new games you come to realize that down at the heart of them most of them aren’t any more fun than our old games (the good ones, like this), just different.

    Too true. Now they drive away what customers they have left with strict DRM and online-only crap. The more they try and fight pirating the more they drive people to it, that or to going back to the classic games. PC gaming has gone down the tubes unfortunately. Because of all the hassle involved when I want to play a new game I just pick it up on a console, but mostly I just play old stuff like this. =P

    @L1011Widebody …
    @L1011Widebody right, yet no media coverage in the gaming media, no awards from the gaming media, in fact no official respect at all – just huge respect from gamers! And you know why there is no official coverage of DOSBox? Because there is no money in it for the games business and promotes us playing our old games rather than buying the new games! The games industry and media – so greedy and arrogant and no support for gamers at all!
